The Montes de María sub-region is a productive area whose main economy revolves around agricultural crops such as yams, cassava, corn, rice, bananas, tobacco and the avocado (Persea americana Mill) American variety. Regarding the cultivation of avocado, it is known that in the Montes de María sub region there is an abundant production, however, it is not being fully exploited due to problems such as the lack of knowledge of the avocado production process by farmers. peasant producers, the weaknesses in the productive chain of the same, the lack of implementation of adequate techniques for planting, the non-fertilization of crops, the inadequate management of pests and diseases, the lack of implementation of strategies for their collection and marketing. The strengthening of the productive chain of the avocado, will allow to improve the levels of production in the sub-region of Montes de María, which have declined in recent years. In this way, with good agricultural practices adjusted to the transfer of technologies provided by precision irrigation systems, it will be possible to obtain better production results, better quality products, to supply domestic markets and be competitive in the foreign market. As mentioned previously, avocado production in the Montes de María has been affected by several factors in which the Phytophthora cinnamomi attack is found, which has been decreasing avocado production, a problem that is still worse more, if one takes into account that most of the avocado produced in the sub region occurs in spontaneous trees that were not 13 subjected to the necessary and established nursery conditions, therefore they have a greater degree of susceptibility to the attack of this fungus and other diseases.
